Amana Colonies and Kalona, Iowa

The Amana Colonies were a communal society.  In this cemetery people are buried in the order they pass from this life, not alongside their spouse or children.

And now onto Kalona, Iowa where there are Amish living in the area.  We were able to see an Amish fellow mowing his yard, a team of horses hitched to a manure spreader and a one horse buggy tied outside a local store.  There was an amazing museum in this town where it would be easy to spend an entire afternoon and still not see everything.
