Back to school today. Boy, I’d been dreading getting back into the morning routine, but it wasn’t too bad. The day went rather well, much better than the last two weeks before Christmas break…so good to see the kiddos again! Only a few times of butting heads with my main three kiddos…sometimes they seem to forget to treat the sides with as much respect as the teachers, that they can blow us off like a maid. Thankfully we have some great teachers who take matters into their own hands when they hear kids we are supposed to be helping talk to us in a disrespectful manner.
Favorite parts of the day are during lunchtime duty with the 6th through 8th grades…we have some really great kids who like the extra attention they can get from the teachers aides, they will seek us out just to say hello.
After school for the 30 minutes with the late bus preschool through 5th graders is almost always the best way to end the day! One little guy who always likes to tell me he’s FBI and taking me to jail, told me today that tomorrow is his birthday…I asked if he was going to be 40…he said no, 39. Such a dolly that kid! He finally said he was going to be 8…later he said 7…so, he’s going to be somewhere between 7 and 39 tomorrow!
The same little guy asked for a huggie a couple weeks ago, while hugging me I could feel him wiping his hand on my leg…sure enough he’d wiped his muddy paws on my cream colored leggings. They washed. No biggie. When asked why I let the kids do such things I say they are just kids and clothes are washable, let them be kids while they can. Helps when they are too cute and sweet for their own good!
